rockit

Today Darrell Grant spoke in Jazz class.
He teaches the stuff at PSU and is great.
Jazz is still alive and livin', as he and other great musicians have shown us youngsters.

Check check check this out!
5 years before I was brought into this world, Herbie Hancock was gettin' down at the Grammy's.
And it is so so so cool.

Reflections

In the winter time.
I was in love at the ocean.
I fell in love with the ocean
and the waves crashing down
on the tide moving in
towards the lovers and their children
playing fetch with their dogs
or drawing pictures in the sand.
To feel love in the rain
in the peak of the winter
is what I felt at the ocean.
I was in love at the ocean
in the winter time.

The Very Thought Of You

The very thought of you

I forget to do

Those little ordinary things

That everyone ought to do

I'm livin' in a kind of day dream

I'm happy as a queen

And foolish though it may seem

To me that's everything

The mere idea of you

The longing here for you

You'll never know

How slow the moments go

Till I'm near to you

I see your face in every flower

Your eyes in stars above

It's just the thought of you,

The very thought of you, my love

Godard

une femme est une femme

une homme est une homme

In December

In December
tucked away in a cabin oh so small.
Where pillow fights were had
and play productions held
behind bunk bed posts.
Where sleeping against walls so thin,
rooms seemed hardly separate.
Where soup simmered slowly
till the dinner bell was wrung,
and we broke bread together
teaching the little one to share.
Where hearts were being broken,
wine bottles to be emptied,
while other hearts were filled
in the next room over.
Filled hearts of lovers beating,
warming them till morning sunrise.
In December.

Loved you the moment I saw you

seeds of fall

SEEDS OF FALL
A Swedish short I saw at Sundance.
Worth your time for some soft laughs and unfeigned romance.

S'more Songs

Not even a cold glass of water on the hottest summer day is as refreshing as sitting with friends on cluttered couches, listening to the sounds of magic loved ones have sent from afar. Bass blasting through speakers, hard not to move a little and dance a lot...at least a good foot tap here and there, and wow their voices sound so strong. Much stronger than their youth, but good, so so good. Makes us miss them, but love more, and feel close because their presence surrounds us, words englulf us. We take it in with unanimous smiles, because it's Monday in the neighborhood and what a good way to start out the week.
